I agree with everything you say Bahtiar. Have you looked at the Adapto framework?. Ivo Jansch, the visionary for Achievo/ATK, started the Adapto project to take the concepts proven with ATK to the next level, using updated technology and using the Zend Framework for basic functionality such as rendering, etc. (see the GitHub Adapto project for more info).

I think ATK/Achievo is still a great businees Application Framework, I used ATK since 2006. I my self decide in My Company everyone should master at least basic atkdemo, and every new hire should pass atk farmework test.

I think someone should write books like ATK for dummy and Advance ATK, and need sponsor and marketing to increase activity and improvement (like integrating with Zend Framework).

Assuming you are asking about PHP only (and not about MySQL server configuration), you should only need to use the “mysql” PHP module (instead of “mysqli”). However, I don’t know if the mysql module is included in WAMP, and if it is, whether it’s already enabled in php.ini.

If I understand you correctly, yes, you can have password problems when using current PHP versions with a MySQL server configured with “old_passwords”. My understanding is that PHP 5.3 will behave the same as PHP 5.4, because both mysqli and mysql will be compiled with mysqlnd and not libmysql. However, this *may* be platform specific (the blog post refers to an issue using a FreeBSD server, Windows and other Unix distributions may compile differently).

i have 2 server in different php version (5.4 & 5.3)
5.3 should be no problem.

If i change this configure in mysql server is it 5.3 can not be connected?

Thanks for the info – I am running Mint (Maya) on a T61 right now. While Mate is OK, it isn’t Gnome 2, or 3 – so I am going to bail out. I found Debian kFreeBSD this week, and have now finished downloading it. The notion is that you get the best of a BSD kernel, with familiar Debian packages. I’ll let you know how it goes. With Ubuntu 8 I was able to get suspend and resume to work nicely – then it became hit or miss, and now fails completely – Mint is no different. I doubt BSD will be any better, but at least a ‘random’ upgrade is less likely to lock me out of some of my peripherals, such as my phone!

After some more experience, I’ve switched to Git-Extensions from TortoiseGit because it presents a much more Git-centric philosophy (while TortoiseGit seems to be more a way to ease into Git from an SVN background).

Git-Extensions includes Git (mysysgit, with Git Bash and Git Gui) as well as KDiff3 for 3-way merges (so I’m also switching from WinDiff to KDiff3, although KDiff3 also includes integration with WinDiff – perhaps indicating WinDiff could still be “better” for 2-way diffs and merges) .

I’m hopefully nearing the end of migrating the Achievo project from it’s original SVN repo to a new home on GitHub (https://www.github.com/atkphpframework/achievo). I’ll write a blog post on the details, but in the process I’m liking Git more and more. The commands aren’t as “nice” as Mercurial, but when in Rome….
