Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a type of enterprise application used to organize information about customers, leads, and other contacts, and provide a structured process for progressing leads to customers. A CRM system is often integrated with other enterprise applications, such as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and may be included as a module within an ERP system.

Dale has experience with a variety of CRM systems, including commercial software such as salesforce and Dynamics CRM, and open-source products such as SuiteCRM.


SuiteCRM began in 2004 as SugarCRM. SugarCRM enjoyed incredible growth from ~2004 to ~2013 following a semi-open-source model, but changed to a proprietary closed-source model in 2015. As a result of the change, the SugarCRM community responded by creating SuiteCRM from SugarCRM’s final open-source release. SuiteCRM has proven hugely successful and a thriving ecosystem now exists including professional support options and development partners.
